Thankful Thursdays ~ A Best Friend

My dearest friend is my husband, and this week I have had a heart overflowing with thanks for him. He has taught me so much and loved me through even more.

He is humble (the first to apologize in any situation)
He is creative
He lights up when he gets home
He is compassionate
He is thankful
He is encouraging
He loves to have fun

He is spontaneous
He is a servant
He offers me love without judgment
He is wise
He plays
He works hard
He is forgiving
He is a comfort
He allows me the freedom to be myself

He supports my big (and little) dreams
He likes to make movies
He doesn't complain when I leave paint drips on the wall
He is involved in everything around the home
He loves me even after a disagreement
He is patient
He listens and takes the time to understand
He does not accuse
He likes to take pictures of himself
He is an amazing father

He offers grace
He likes to dress up in costumes
He dances with me
He stays up late just to do the dishes
I have a lot to be thankful for.

If You Give Cami A Paintbrush

If you give Cami a painbrush,
She will want it to be purple.

She will ask for some purple paint to go with it.
Then she will want to paint a picture.

When she sees the sparkles on the page, she will want to paint her legs.
She will think the purple is pretty and say, "Mommy, look my legs are sparkly."

Then she will want to paint her bracelet.

While painting her bracelet, she will get paint on her fingernails.
This will remind her that she likes to have her toenails painted.
She will paint her toenails.

When she is all done painting, she will want to take a bath.

She will want to wash her paintbrush in the tub.

When she is all done and clean, she will see the purple paintbrush sitting on the sink.

She will want to hold it again.

Holding the paintbrush will remind her of painting a picture.
She will ask for some purple paint to go with it.
And chances are, if she has a purple paintbrush and purple paint, she will want to paint another picture.

- New discoveries

- Rain falling heavy on the roof
- The sound of water boiling
- Real conversations with good friends
- Warm, salty mud squishy between my toes

- Caterpillars

- Snuggles on the couch with a book
 - Orange shorts and painted toe nails

- A trip to the library and the quiet that falls on the house after
- Watching my children serve one another
- A deep breath outside in the stormy weather

Thankful Thursdays ~ Poison Ivy Home Remedies and Bursts of Yellow

Another week of many things to be thankful for, of which I will only share two.

Poison Ivy Relief.
Kaylynn has had more battles with Poison Ivy (or poison Sumac) than I can count. Two years ago, it left her immobile on the couch with eyes swollen shut, Jewel weed packs all over her body, and still no relief. We have tried everything from boiling Jewel weed, tea tree oil, and organic lotions to Benedryl with little to no relief for my dear daughter. I am not willing to put her on steroids (which is what the next "recommended" step is) so this time around, I dug deeper. Our first line of defense is poison ivy soap which we wash her with almost daily. But when that is not around, she breaks out all over the place. In my search for a natural relief I found Lemons! Yes lemons.

I rubbed the lemon on her rash, and she had almost immediate relief for nearly 6 hours. It did burn a little, but the relief was worth it. Baking Soda and Vinegar paste was also a big hit. This has less of a burning sensation and provides the same relief. I am so thankful for these "in my cupboard" remedies because my poor daughter was miserable. Her beautiful smiles are back, and my hear swells with gratitude! We are going on vacation this weekend, and I am packing our poison Ivy soap and lots of lemons!

I am also thankful for Vibrant Yellow on the clothesline!
